Four years ago, the Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute (MMI) opened a satellite office in Urbana, Maryland. Located in the newly constructed FMH Building they had office hours just 3 days a week with a handful of MMI providers seeing patients. Since that time both the Urbana area and MMI’s practice have seen explosive growth. As a result, on Monday, October 14, 2013 MMI will open its new Urbana location, offering expanded services, in the Knowledge Farms Office Complex located at 3280 Urbana Pike, Suite105-106, Urbana, MD 21754.
With more than double the space, this expansion allows MMI to bring the full range of its services directly to the residents of lower Frederick and upper Montgomery Counties. The following physicians will see patients in the new Urbana facility for the listed specialties:
Frank Nisenfeld, MD – General Orthopaedics
Mark Chilton, MD – General Orthopaedics, Total Joint Replacement
James Steinberg, DO - General Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, Total Joint Replacement
Laura Copaken, MD – Pediatric Orthopaedics
Ricardo Valle, MD – General Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, Total Joint Replacement
Jocelyn Idema, DO – General Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery
Neeti Bhargava, MD – Rheumatology
Zinon Pappas, MD – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Damian Roussel, DPM, FACFAS – Foot & Ankle Care
MMI’s new Urbana facility will have onsite x-ray, casting, bracing and splinting as well as a fully outfitted Physical Therapy Department. In addition to traditional physical therapy treatments for musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, MMI therapist, Season Rumpff, DPT, will offer Pelvic Therapy for women and men struggling with pelvic dysfunctions. This specialized therapy is a combination of manual techniques, biofeedback, bladder/bowel retraining, and exercises.
Dr. Frank Nisenfeld, the Orthopaedic surgeon who started this practice 35 years ago, stated, “We have always stressed the 3 A’s of specialty medicine; Availability (making ourselves available to our patients and the referring physicians), Affability (treating everyone with respect by following the Golden Rule) and Ability (delivering competent, skilled care). That formula has worked well for us and helped us realize the value in practicing in this part of Frederick County. We appreciate the support we have received in the Urbana area over the past four years and look forward to continuing to grow our practice and serve Urbana area residents for many years to come.”
