The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics is redefining the way musculoskeletal care is delivered across the region with locations throughout Maryland, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
To the parents and coaches of Frederick County Public Schools student athletes,
In years past the physicians of MMI have provided sports physicals at no cost to the students, families, or schools, to ensure that any child who is interested in participating in athletics has the opportunity to do so. This is something we feel should always be done in conjunction with regular, annual preventative care by the student athlete’s primary care physician. However, over this past year a great many young people have not been seen for annual preventative visits with their primary care physicians. This has led to missed preventative screenings and children falling behind on their normal, regular vaccinations.
Additionally, there are new cardiac screening recommendations for sports participation for any young person exposed to COVID based on their symptom severity. For these reasons, the physicians of MMI strongly encourage all student athletes to have their sports physicals for the 2021-2022 season performed by their primary care physician. That being said, no student athlete should be denied the opportunity to compete due to a lack of access to medical care. MMI will host sports physicals on a scheduled basis, as usual, at no cost to the student, family or school, on Saturday 7/24/2021 from 8:00 am to 12:0 pm (noon).
