Frank G. Nisenfeld, MD
Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Nisenfeld, a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, started Orthopaedic Associates of Frederick in 1977. Orthopaedic Associates of Frederick has evolved into what is now MMI. Dr. Nisenfeld’s professional interests are work-related injuries, sports medicine, osteoporosis, and non-surgical relief from arthritis.
Dr. Nisenfeld received his MD from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his residencies in orthopaedic surgery at George Washington University Hospital, the Veterans Administration Hospital, and the Crippled Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC. He has published several articles on hand injuries and co-authored a chapter on sports medicine approach to low back injuries.
Dr. Nisenfeld’s military service included Staff Orthopaedic Surgeon and Chief Orthopaedic Service at Kimborough Army Hospital, Ft. Meade, Maryland. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons from 1975-1977. Dr. Nisenfeld also serves MMI as a Team Physician for the Frederick Keys, the Carolina League Affiliates of the Baltimore Orioles, and Urbana High School.
Dr. Nisenfeld also had the privilege of serving as a physician volunteer at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. He journeyed to Torino, Italy to serve as a medical volunteer under the auspices of the Olympic Committee. While he was unable to travel to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he is looking forward to serving at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
